iPhone App Store Includes Kindle Killer
In a quick look at the new Apple iTunes Appstore, I see that there are quite a few eBooks, with a reader, just as I was hoping. If the publishers start selling content for this reader, then this will kill the Amazon Kindle.
What would you rather have for $300? A dedicated eBook reader that looks like it was designed by Radio Shack in 1986 or a fully functioning mini-computer that also happens to be the best piece of product design in ten years?

Many of the people purchasing the Kindle are those who need the ability to adjust print to larger sizes. Those same people (along with many others) who have no intention of purchasing an iPhone (AT&T carrier, Apple hater, whatever) will ensure that the Kindle will not die.
Personally, I have an iPhone and still would like to get a Kindle. As much as I love/use/depend on my iPhone, I think the screen is really a little small for me to want to do any serious reading on it. I have no large-print needs - I just read too much to do any major amount on my phone.
I would be really surprised if you can't increase text size on the iPhone. The resolution is also a LOT higher; the battery life I imagine would be an issue but the resolution benefits I would think give the iPhone an edge here. The Kindle is way overpriced (as are the data plans for ATT I suppose) but the Iphone has so much other utility...
btw beth - my band (www.latuzamusic.com) is supposedly doing some spanish-language work with Kimberly over at Barefoot Books! ;-)
You might be able to increase the text, but at that point, you're looking at spending a lot of time scrolling around on the page.
Cool deal about the band - do you know what they're going to be using it for?
$.99 for a book that's free (no copyright on classics) hardly makes a Kindle killer though
